Pupi
Pupi is our first effort in creating original content for children with a conscious effort for value addition besides entertainment. Pupi, a cute little puppy, explores the world around him, learns many new things and befriends many in his journey. Pupi demonstrated to us that stories work well to communicate science to kids. Pupi brought us State and national awards and entered the competition sections of several international film festivals.
Pupi Season 1 (38 minutes, 2006)
Pupi, the little puppy explores the world with his usual pranks. His curiosity to learn new things teaches him many new facts about the living beings and the social order around him. He is always doubtful and asks questions about everything he finds strange. In fact, his questions lead him to great answers that are scientific truths. The animated doll Twinkle, who very much identifies herself with the children and their world, anchors the entire programme. The title includes seven stories, three songs and a musical.
Pupi Season 2 (48 minutes, 2009)
In this episode, Pupi mingles with new friends to know more about them. The ones he meet and make friends with are honey bee, bat, lizard, seed, frog and cuckoo. There is a dreamy magical sequence of the queen bee and her palace, a thrilling discovery of the night life of bat and unraveling of the secret of cuckoo laying eggs in a crow’s nest. There are also three songs about senses on smell, taste and sound.
Pupi Season 3 (42 minutes, 2014)
In this episode, Pupi discovers more friends and even settles quarrels among his friends. The title has five stories, two songs and a musical. Pupi explores the world of insects and meets firefly, dragonfly, termite, spider and earthworm. Earthworm’s story is a highlight in this season and it depicts him as a selfless farmer. The song about sun explains the need of sunlight and the ‘rain’ song tells about importance of water explains water cycle.
Pupi Season 4 (45 minutes, 2024)
Across the woods, across the river, across the hills, and across the streams, Pupi and his new friend Pinky, the little mouse are up in spirits for a new adventure. A lot of friends join them, pouring love and good will into the journey that demands great responsibility. A swarm of beautiful butterflies, a potter wasp, a woodpecker, a pangolin and her little one join them on the way. They learn a few lessons on hard work and persistence, and finally find whom they were looking for. For the first time, the stories and songs of Pupi connected back to back.
